Power BI Consulting FAQ
This Power BI consulting FAQ gives straight answers to the questions clients ask me most often before starting a Power BI project.
Power BI consulting FAQ: pricing and process
How much does a Power BI consultant cost?
My hourly rate is $50. Most projects are quoted as a fixed price based on the number of data sources, reports and how much automation is needed. See the full Power BI pricing guide for typical ranges and what affects the price.
How long does a Power BI project take?
A single dashboard usually takes 3 weeks. A full Power BI for Acumatica finance pack takes 3–6 weeks. Smaller fixes and changes are often done within a few days.
What does a typical project look like?
1) A free discovery call to understand your goals and data. 2) A short data review and a fixed quote. 3) Building the data model and reports, with a review checkpoint so you can give feedback early. 4) Publishing, training and handover.
Do you work with small companies or only enterprises?
Both. I have 8+ years of Power BI experience (working with Power BI since 2018), including large enterprise environments, and I also work with small and growing teams that are building their first reports.
Acumatica and data sources
Can Power BI connect directly to Acumatica?
Yes. Power BI connects to Acumatica through OData, usually by exposing Generic Inquiries. That gives you scheduled, refreshable reports without exporting to Excel. I already know the Acumatica data structure, so there is no long discovery phase.
Which Acumatica reports can you build?
Typical finance dashboards include GL and P&L, balance sheet, A/R and A/P aging, cash flow, inventory and budget-vs-actual variance analysis.
Should I use Velixo or Power BI for Acumatica reporting?
They solve different problems. Velixo is Excel-based and great for formatted financial statements finance teams already build in Excel. Power BI is better for interactive dashboards, trends, drill-down and sharing KPIs with management. Many companies use both.
What other data sources do you work with?
Excel, CSV, SharePoint, SQL Server, cloud databases, APIs and ERP systems. Data from several systems can be combined into one model.
Working together
Do you work remotely?
Yes. I am based in Serbia (Central European Time) and work remotely with clients in the USA and Europe.
Will my team be able to maintain the reports?
Yes. Every project includes a handover and hands-on training, so your team can use, update and extend the reports.
Who owns the reports?
You do. Everything is built in your own Power BI workspace and tenant.
How do you handle data access and confidentiality?
I work with read-only access where possible, and access is removed after the project.
What Power BI license do I need?
To share reports inside your organization, users typically need Power BI Pro or Premium Per User licenses, or the content needs to be in a Fabric/Premium capacity. I will recommend the cheapest option that fits your needs. Current prices are on Microsoft’s Power BI pricing page.
Do you offer training only, without a project?
Yes. I offer 1:1 sessions and team workshops, and I teach Power BI on the ELEVEL platform.
